Role Call: Plays by foolsFURY Women

  • NOHspace 2840 Mariposa Street San Francisco, CA, 94110 United States (map)

FoolsFURY presents the world premiere of shows by core ensemble members, Debórah Eliezer and Michelle Haner, bold women making dynamic art.

In (dis)Place[d], Eliezer unpacks her hybrid identity through the history of her Iraqi Jewish father, a member of the Zionist-underground, a refugee, and an immigrant. In this world of displacement, she asks “How do you claim the story you don’t even know?”

Haner’s Sheryl, Hamlet, and Me features the unlikely collision of a high school drama teacher, the COO of Facebook, and Shakespeare’s tragic Prince of Denmark. It is a surreal excursion, exploring what it means to be an ambitious woman in the 21st century, and the price we’re willing to pay to expand our influence in the digital era. These powerhouse solo performances combine the physical style, lyrical text, music, and song that has made foolsFURY a perennial innovator.
